The debut studio album by legendary American rapper, and singer Lauryn Noelle Hill, is among the top records to be inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame at an inaugural ceremony scheduled for May 21, 2024.

The album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, released in 1998, would be celebrated as it was the first project by a female rapper to reach the top of the Billboard Hot 200 and remains one of the best-selling albums of all time. It was again certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The Grammy Hall of Fame gala and concert would take place at the Novo Theater in Los Angeles. Other records, like Appetite For Destruction by Guns N’ Roses’ and 3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul, are included on the list of inductees.

Albums tipped for the honours, according to Grammy Hall of Fame guidelines, are said to have exhibited “qualitative or historical significance and are at least 25 years old.”

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Recording Academy, Harvey Mason Jr., said the records selected had played “a pivotal role in shaping the cultural landscape, adding that it was “a true honor” to recognize the albums and recordings for the “profound influence each has had on music and beyond.”

Recordings from Donna Summer, Charley Pride, Wanda Jackson, Buena Vista Social Club, and several others are also expected to be honoured.

“The artists, songwriters, producers, and engineers who composed this year’s inducted recordings are a reflection of the sheer talent and hard work that goes into creating such seminal music.

“It’s a privilege to be able to welcome these new additions into our distinguished catalogue and celebrate the recordings at our inaugural gala on May 21,” Michael Sticka, President/CEO of the Grammy Museum, stated.

The organizers said the Hall of Fame Gala, will become an annual event. It includes a red carpet, VIP reception, and a concert.

Lauryn Hill is celebrated as one of the most influential musicians of her generation. She has eight Grammy awards and many hit records and collaborations, including Ready or Not, Killing Me Softly with Fugees, and also performed on ‘If I Ruled The World’ by Nas.
