Radio host Charlamagne Tha God in a startling admission, has alleged that Wendy Williams getting fired from WQHT in 1998 was due to Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Charlamagne noted this when he appeared on Andrew Schulz’s Flagrant podcast.

Charlamagne stated that Wendy’s whole thing started when she suggested that Diddy was gay.

He then went on to say, “That’s why Wendy got fired from Hot 97.

Additionally, he noted, that Wendy got fired from Hot 97 by Diddy “’cause that’s when Bad Boy was smoking hot and she got fired for putting that out there.”

It all began in April 1997, when Williams was threatened with termination from the radio station for allegedly saying Combs was gay.

She said it with a doctored photo in which Diddy was shown indulging in sexual actions with another guy while nude from the waist down.

Among these were the allegations made by Williams at the time that Q-Tip, the partner of her co-worker Angie Martinez, was gay too.

Many viewed Wendy’s comments against the girl group from Bad Boy Records, calling them “broke hoes” as derogatory.

She was then fired in 1998 as a result of a contentious sequence of events that started with the incident.

Charlamagne is not the only one who has suggested that Combs played a major role in Williams’ dismissal because he had a great deal of power over the radio industry in the late 1990s.

Gene Deal, the “Bad Boy For Life” rapper’s former bodyguard, expressed similar views in 2022 while speaking on The Art of Dialogue podcast.

“The power [Diddy] had with the radio stations in New York—motherf—didn’t breathe hard if [Diddy] didn’t want them to,” said Deal.

However, Gene did not mention Wendy’s name but described her circumstances.

Deal said, “Diddy] got one of the hottest DJs off Hot 97 because she wanted to put up a picture of him getting his pants pulled down.”

He went on to say that, “[Diddy] told Hot 97 if they didn’t get rid of her before he got back in New York”, he was going to make sure they were not going to get any music from any of his friends, or any of the record label executives that was cool with him and everyone was going to boycott their station.”
