Information coming in suggests that Snoop Dogg will provide primetime coverage at various events at the 2024 Olympics in addition to checking in with NBC Olympics host, Mike Tirico.

The rapper-turned-media personality will join NBC in France for the 2024 Summer Olympics, the network announced on Sunday night. He will assist with event coverage.

According to a press release from NBC and Peacock, “the global megastar will be on-site in Paris to provide regular reports for the Olympic Primetime Show beginning July 26, 2024.”

According to the network, “he’ll visit with the athletes, their friends, and families, as well as explore the city’s iconic landmarks and the 2024 Olympics competitions and events.”

“I love watching the amazing athletes compete in Paris; I grew up watching the Olympics.” It’s an ode to talent, commitment, and striving for greatness”, Snoop Dogg declared in a statement.

“There will be some incredible competitions, and naturally, I’ll be adding my Snoop style to the mix. Keep it locked for what promises to be the most epic Olympics ever. Let’s raise the bar, have fun, and create memories from these games. Let the best players win like gold. Olympic love and peace, ya dig?”

According to NBC Olympic Production president and executive producer, Molly Solomon, the Drop It Like It’s Hot rapper was given a similar slot for this summer’s games because of his outstanding work as a host and presenter during the previous Olympics.

“Snoop Dogg now works for us as our special correspondent in Paris, thanks to that performance alone, Solomon said. “We’re not sure what the heck will happen every day, but we do know he’ll bring his distinct viewpoint to our reimagined primetime Olympic show”, said Solomon.

The announcement was made for the first time during Sunday Night Football between the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers on NBC.

Several Team USA athletes, such as gymnast Suni Lee, basketball player A’ja Wilson, skateboarder Jagger Eaton, and beach volleyball team Kelly Cheng and Sara Hughes, have already been featured in Snoop’s films.

Next summer’s Olympic Games will be the third time Paris has hosted the Olympics, having previously done so in 1900 and 1924, so has Snoop who previously collaborated with actors Kevin Hart to help cover the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, with their highlight show airing on Peacock.

“Paris 2024 organizers are reimagining the Games to showcase their city to the world and to make them more accessible to the public. First, contests will take place in front of famous Parisian sites: urban sports at Place de la Concorde, beach volleyball at the Eiffel Tower, and equestrian at the Palace of Versailles,” NBC reported.
