Renowned NBA player LeBron James reached the 40,000-point milestone this weekend. On March 2, 2024, he scored his 40,000th career point during the first half against the Denver Nuggets at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.

The Los Angeles Lakers faced the Denver Nuggets on Saturday evening in a rematch of the 2023 Western Conference Finals, which the Nuggets won in a sweep. King James entered the game only nine points shy of 40,000 and established the new mark with a layup early in the second quarter.

The Lakers lost to the Nuggets 124-114 despite leading at halftime and being tied after the third quarter. The four-time NBA champion had 26 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.

“I feel like I’m still that threat out on the floor, and I am still able to do the things that I was doing 10 years ago. And some things I was doing 20 years ago, which is weird to say,” LeBron James said about his achievement after the game.

In February 2023, LeBron James became the NBA’s all-time best scorer, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s mark of 38 years. After Kareem passed away, authorities halted the Lakers’ game against the Oklahoma City Thunder so that a memorial film to James could be shown to everyone in attendance at Crpyto.com Arena.

LeBron James and his son Bronny were recently in the news on a special sports trading card as a result of a new multi-year agreement with Fanatics Inc., an online retailer and manufacturer of officially licenced sportswear for Formula 1, WWE, NASCAR, MLB, MLS, NBA, NFL, NHL, and NPB.

They offer sports betting, iGaming, trading cards, sports collectibles, and sports merchandise as well.

After receiving roughly $700 million from a group of investors, the sports merchandise company is now valued at $31 billion.

The first trading card has an image of LeBron sporting his well-known St. Vincent-St. Mary High School jersey, while Bronny is decked up in USC apparel.

According to a company press release, “In sports, there is so much greatness to celebrate, and I’ve always been one to take a moment to recognize that in athletes at the top of their games. It all comes down to enjoying the journey and the many moments you have ahead of you”.

As part of the initiative, the company will also release its “Origin of Greatness” video. The narrative, which is narrated by LeBron James, revolves around the crucial moments of various athletes, such as their first touchdown, their first upset, or any other noteworthy event.
