Mockingbird, Eminem’s old-time single, is being celebrated again after it crossed one billion streams on YouTube this week.
The video, directed by John Quigley, and uploaded to YouTube on December 24, 2009, is now rated as one of the top-notch productions to join the ‘Billion Club’ on the channel.
The introspective song, which also crossed One billion streams on Spotify last year, captured Eminem speaking to his then nine-year-old daughter as he gets emotional watching childhood home videos.
He reflects, among other things, on his trials and tribulations as a father and relationship issues with the mother of his daughter.
“Mockingbird” reached No. 10 on Billboard‘s Rap Songs chart in its prime years. Its recent growth on streaming platforms has been attributed to an increase in TikTok plays before Eninem’s catalogue was taken off the platform.

Meanwhile, sources close to Eminem say the singer will release a new album late this year called The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace). A trailer for the album appeared on social media this week, though the release date for the project is yet to be confirmed.
Fans have been encouraged to pre-save the album, which has several tracks produced by celebrated record producer Dr. Dre.
Dre revealed earlier this year that Eminem had been working on an album and that he was producing several tracks.
“I actually talked to him and he said it was okay for me to make that announcement…So he [Eminem] has an album coming out, I’ve got songs on it and it’s fire,” Dr Dre said about the project early this year.
Eminem’s last album, Music To Be Murdered By, received mixed reviews upon its release in early 2020, with some reviewers describing it as “a little more interesting.”
The I’m Not Afraid rapper recently posted a picture of himself celebrating 16 years of sobriety, as he had previously struggled with substance abuse and alcohol.
