After establishing the Westbrook/Brownstein Green Tech Program, NBA star Russell Westbrook has teamed up with philanthropist Chad Brownstein and the LA Conservation Corps to work on a new project.

The well-known Los Angeles Clippers man is exhibiting his unwavering commitment to his hometown of Los Angeles.

According to reports from FOX 11, a local FOX affiliate in Los Angeles, Westbrook intends to lead the development of 180 affordable housing units in South Los Angeles, California, in collaboration with the Vermont project.

The project will be located on the site of the 1992 Los Angeles riots after the controversial acquittal of police officers involved in the beating of Rodney King, Target will serve as the anchor for this housing initiative.

Not only will Westbrook’s initiative offer much-needed affordable housing options for families and the elderly, but it will also introduce a SEED school and some community-focused businesses, creating new job opportunities for locals.

The main goal is to rewrite the story of South Central Los Angeles by actively participating in and supporting the neighborhood.

Russell Westbrook: Why Not? a foundation that was founded in 2012, is another example of Westbrook’s dedication to improving his community. Westbrook aims to uplift kids with this foundation, encouraging them to ask “Why not?” and instilling in them the virtues of tenacity and fortitude.

To improve his community’s access to vital services like healthcare, education, and job training, Westbrook has worked with groups like LeadersUp over the years to lend helping hands.

“Coming from the inner city, I understand the critical need for resources, access, and opportunities for our youth. It is a privilege to help the South Los Angeles community and beyond, whether via employment creation or educational programs,” ” Westbrook said reflecting on his commitment.

The President and CEO of LeadersUp, Jeffrey Wallace, praised Westbrook for its philanthropic leadership and emphasized the critical role that career opportunities and education play in promoting an inclusive economy.

He praised Westbrook for being a genuine supporter of the next wave of talent, emphasizing his unwavering work to expand opportunities for young adults who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color).
