Despite being the richest female musician in the world, Rihanna still could not make it into the top half of the 100 Most Powerful Women in 2023.

The latest list released by Forbes Magazine puts the singer at 74 falling below other female musicians like Taylor Swift and Beyonce.

With an astounding net worth of $1.4 billion, Rihanna trumps Swift, who was only named a billionaire recently, and Beyonce who has a net worth of $540 million. Swift and Beyonce ranked 5th and 36th respectively.

Rihanna’s appearance on the Most Powerful Women was attributed to her high-flying fashion and beauty ventures, Fenty Beauty and Savage x Fenty, as well as her Super Bowl Halftime Show performance earlier in the year.

Rihanna’s rise to billionaire status

After shooting to fame with her first album in 2005, the Barbados-born singer continued with chart-topping hits like Umbrella, Rude Boy, and many others.

She leveraged her stardom to build fashion and beauty empires like Savage X Fenty and Fenty Beauty to achieve certified billionaire status.

Co-owned by Rihanna and luxury giant LVMH, Fenty Beauty cosmetics saw revenue numbers double in 2022. The meteoric rise reflects Fenty’s global influence as a leader in inclusive, diverse beauty.

Rihanna’s lingerie brand Savage x Fenty also reached a $1 billion company valuation this February. She owns 30% equity in the rapidly growing label.

Musical comeback

After a five-year music hiatus, Rihanna released Lift Me Up in 2022 for the film Black Panther 2. The emotive ballad received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song.

On the back of that, she had a splendid show at the Super Bowl.
