A new full-length movie based on the life of singer and superproducer, Pharrell Williams, will be animated into LEGO.

Pharrell Williams announced his collaboration with Focus Features, The Lego Group, and filmmaker Morgan Neville to make an animated feature called Piece by Piece, which will chronicle his life using the iconic building blocks.

According to the press release, Pharrell  Williams decided to convey his narrative in a style that would allow viewers to use their imaginations rather than make a conventional film about his life.

Piece by Piece, which was created from his one-of-a-kind vision, defies preconceptions and genres to immerse viewers in a Lego universe where everything is possible.

Focus Features chairman Peter Kujawski said in a statement, “Pharrell Williams is a true trailblazer whose influence across music, art, and fashion continually reshapes global culture with an undeniable sense of joy. His visionary spirit comes to life in a wholly unique and uplifting way that will inspire everyone to dance, sing, and use their voice to build the world they want to see, brick by brick, piece by piece”.

Neville said in the announcement, “Five years ago, Pharrell Williams approached me with the idea of helping him tell his story through Lego animation. It was one of those infrequent occasions when I instantly felt that this was a voyage I wanted to take. I’m appreciative of our friends at the Lego Group and Focus Features for supporting our absurd aim. To assist in creating a novel kind of film, we brought together an amazing group of creative contributors. I’m eager for others to see it”.

“Morgan was the ideal collaborator for me when I got this crazy idea to use Lego blocks to tell this story. Pharrell Williams declared. He is a legend. I’m appreciative that Focus desired to work with us, and I feel privileged to share this with the world and welcome others into my world. Building with Lego bricks inspires us to use our imaginations”.

Producing the movie with Neville and Caitrin Rogers (Tremolo Productions) are Shani Saxon (I am OTHER), Mimi Valdés, and Williams. The Lego Group has Jill Wilfert and Keith Malone in charge of executive production.
