After Beyoncé’s husband, Jay-Z called out the Recording Academy when the songbird failed to grab the Album Of The Year award at the Grammys, her father, Matthew Knowles, has added his voice to the matter.

Her father not only blamed the Recording Academy but reserved some of the blame for Beyoncé’s label, Columbia Records, as well.

On Monday, February 5, 2023, Knowles told TMZ that some people don’t know the process because a musician’s recording label can only appoint one person in a category. He added that it is likely her label failed to put her in the category for consideration.

Beyoncé has, however, been up for Album of the Year four times for I AM …Sasha Fierce, Beyoncé, Lemonade and RENAISSANCE.

She’s also been nominated alongside her Columbia Records label mates, Adele, whom she lost to in 2017, and Harry Styles, whom she lost to last year.

Her father went on to say that the record label is likely to only support one artist if it as both Beyonce and Adele on the same record.

In his opinion, taking into consideration his 14 years of work with labels, he believes both the label and the Recording Academy are at fault.
Beyonce’s husband, on the day of the Grammys, blamed the Recording label for his wife missing the award.

As he accepted the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award for his work in the music industry, Jay-Z took a moment to blast the academy for failing to give an award to his wife.

“I don’t want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won album of the year,” he said while looking at the “Halo” singer from the stage. In his opinion, “that math doesn’t work.”

Jay-Z then went on to slam fellow musicians, arguing that some of them didn’t even deserve to be nominated in certain categories.
