Interestingly enough, Ashanti recently opened up to Entertainment Tonight about the unexpected journey that led to her engagement with Nelly, reflecting on how their rekindled romance took her by surprise.

The couple’s reunion in 2021 at a Verzuz battle marked a turning point in their relationship, reigniting a flame that had never truly died out.
Describing the heartfelt proposal from Nelly, Ashanti noted, “It was just such a beautiful, intimate moment. We were not dressy. I cried. I gave him the biggest hug and kiss ever.”

Ashanti previously confirmed her pregnancy and engagement to Essence back in April.
