American rapper Olubowale Victor Akintimehin famed as Wale has returned to the music scene once more with his eagerly awaited new song, Max Julien. The song is Wale’s first song on his brand-new label, Def Jam Recordings.

The On Chill creator signed a contract with the illustrious label months ago, but he kept it secret up until this point, claims TMZ.  On Thursday, October 19, TMZ was the first to break the news about the rapper’s latest move. The rumored new agreement between Wale and Def Jam has not been officially announced by either party.

The publication did point out that sources close to the Washington, D.C native told them he signed the contract months ago and that “it will be instrumental in navigating the next facet of his career.” This also applies to the brand-new song he dropped on October 20.

Just the day before, Wale teased his comeback to music with a social media photo of himself with the message, “My silence has been golden… We’ll talk on Friday. Folarin is back.”

Prior to the announcement, The Matrimony hitmaker’s whole Instagram account was deleted, which is a sign that a new chapter in an artiste’s career is about to begin. Wale had plans to “take his [hometown] by storm,” according to TMZ, but it wasn’t clear exactly what that included.

Folarin II, Wale’s most recent album, included Rick Ross, Jamie Foxx, Shawn Stockman, Lil Chris, and other artistes.

Hit songs Angles with Chris Brown and Poke It Out with J. Cole served as the album’s centerpieces.

The 39-year-old released his critically lauded mixtape More About Nothing, which included references to Seinfeld, on digital streaming services the following year.

Recently, Wale made a sensational cameo appearance on BLOOD ON THE DANCE FLOOR alongside Def Jam labelmates ODUMODUBLVCK and Bloody Civilian. This song reached No.1 on Apple Music and Spotify in Nigeria and became Wale’s first song to make it to the Top 10 in that country’s charts.

In other news, Wale will give a special concert at the Kennedy Center on November 10 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his legendary album The Gifted.
