Victoria Beverly Walker, known professionally as PinkPantheress, has made fascinating revelations about herself and how her musical journey started.

The young English singer and record producer, in an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, said she started recording music because she was desperate for success. For this reason, she said she had to choose between going to the university and chasing her dream.

“The courage to do music stemmed from my desperation to be successful; I always knew I wanted to be successful, and I always knew what I wanted to do in my brain” the Break It Off singer noted.

“I wanted to be a film editor, there was even a part of me that wanted to be an actress; there was part of me that wanted to be someone successful so I can just be happy about the success that I have built for myself.  I knew I didn’t want to have a job, but I wasn’t sure about my success. I wanted it to be like I am doing this job and I am good at it,” she stated.

The young artiste recently announced her debut album, Heaven Knows, which is gaining some attention online, and has also planned an upcoming tour.

Presenting further details about her music career, the 22-year-old singer again disclosed that she felt her time was “running out,” hence the determination to give off the best while she was still young.

Apart from seeing young people online accomplish great things at a tender age, she felt the quality of her vocals may decline with time, and all of these were part of the motivation to start recording music.

Heaven Knows, released on November 10, 2023, has songs including Boy’s a Liar Pt. 2 with Ice Spice, Mosquito, Capable of Love, Bury Me, and Nice to Meet You featuring Central Cee.

PinkPantheress’ songs are usually short in length and include samples of music from the 1990s and 2000s, spanning several genres, including bedroom pop, drum and bass, and others.

The Mosquito crooner came to the limelight in 2021 while posting songs to TikTok. Her singles Just for Me and Pain from her debut mixtape, To Hell with It, released in 2021, peaked in the top 40 of the UK Singles Chart and were certified silver by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).

She won the BBC’s Sound of 2022 poll. Her 2022 single, Boy’s a Liar reached No.2 in the UK, while its 2023 remix with American rapper Ice Spice became her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No.3.
