Singer Tems has been making waves with her upcoming album Born In The Wild. On Friday, May 3, 2024, she released the official video for the single Love Me Jeje off the album.

Fans are yet to get a feel for the rest of the songs on the album, but the title of the compilation, according to Tems, has a deeper meaning. It is about her experiences and the “road rage” in the music industry.

Explaining the meaning of the album in excerpts from a video online, she observed that the music industry is about “survival of the fittest.

“I named this [project] Born In The Wild because I really want to share my journey, my story, and my life after being seen. There was lot of hurdles I had to cross and I just wanted to give a perspective of what it is like to come from where I am from.

“The reason why it is ‘wild’ for me is that the culture is really survival of the fittest culture. It’s very fast…if you don’t work hard, you gonna drown and everybody is fighting all the time…the road rage is crazy,” she stated.

Amid the challenges, Tems said she did her “best to remain true and pure” to herself over the years. The trending video for the single Love Me Jeje has accumulated some appreciable views on YouTube since it premiered.

It will be recalled that Tems debuted Love Me Jeje at the Coachella Music Festival when she had her turn on stage. During her performance at Coachella, she pulled a surprise when she brought out Wizkid and Justin Bieber to perform their Billboard Hot 100 No. 9 hit song, Essence.

Tems held a private listening session for the new album Born In The Wild in Lagos, Nigeria, last month. She posted snippets of the gathering and thanked fans and well-wishers who continue to support her project. Me & U and Not an Angel, two of her tracks released at end of last year, both peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s U.S. Afrobeats Songs list
