American singer, Taylor Swift is distantly connected to American literary giant Emily Dickinson, a report from the genealogy site, Ancestry has revealed.
According to the study, the two ladies are sixth cousins, three times removed. Ancestry’s results also revealed that the award-winning singer and the poet – who was born in 1830 and died at the age of 55 in 1886- , are descendants of the same 17th-century English immigrant.
Taylor Swift’s ninth great-grandfather and Dickinson’s sixth great-grandfather were the early Windsor, Connecticut, settlers.
The musician’s forefathers lived in Connecticut for six generations before relocating to northeastern Pennsylvania and marrying into the Swift dynasty. Many years later, Scott and Andrea Swift had their first daughter on December 13, 1989, in West Reading before relocating to Nashville.
Swift’s link to one of history’s most celebrated poets comes at an interesting point in her career, since her upcoming album is named The Tortured Poets Department. The 16-track LP, which includes four special extra versions, will be released on April 19.

Getting named Spotify’s Global Top Artist in 2023 is truly the best birthday/holiday gift you could’ve given me. We’ve seriously had the most fun this year out there on tour and now this. Are you serious.”
“So I was trying to think of a way to thank you, and a lot of you have been asking me to put “You’re Losing Me (From The Vault)” on streaming…so here you go! You can finally listen everywhere now,” she wrote on her X (Twitter).
Swift, who is on her Eras Tour also described her recent trip to Brazil as something she had been dreaming of for years, thanking her crew for continuing to make the shows successful.
“Bringing a tour to Brazil has been something I’ve dreamt of for years, and those fans blew my expectations away. We’ve officially wrapped up the 2023 Eras Tour and we got to end the year with 6 shows in Rio and São Paulo, with the most magical crowds…”
“To the people who came to see it, you are what made those stadiums feel so alive and electric and unforgettable for me. Really just feeling so proud and moved by what I got to be a part of. See you in 2024,” she wrote in appreciation.
