SZA, the acclaimed TDE singer, has voiced her dissatisfaction with Apple Music’s ranking of her blockbuster album, SOS, on its Top 100 Albums of All Time. Despite the album’s enormous success since its release in December 2022, it has been ranked 72.
Upon learning about the ranking, SZA took to Instagram to express her feelings, hinting that she found the 72nd position disrespectful. The streaming platform is gradually unveiling the full list, which will not be fully available until May 22.
The list features a host of fan-favorite rap albums, including Travis Scott’s Astroworld, Tyler, The Creator’s Flower Boy, Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP, Missy Elliott’s Supa Dupa Fly, and N.W.A’s Straight Outta Compton. Albums by Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Usher, Solange, and Mary J. Blige also feature within the top 100.
In a recent episode of BET’s Diggin’ in the Crates, Fat Joe praised 50 Cent’s Get Rich or Die Tryin’, calling it one of the greatest albums ever. He acknowledged the album’s impact on Hip Hop music, highlighting its unique energy, flows, melodies, and beats. He also credited Dr. Dre for enhancing the album’s quality and professionalism.
The album’s success is reflected in its record-breaking streaming numbers and multiple hit singles, including “I Hate U,” “Snooze,” and “Kill Bill,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart. SOS made SZA one of the most-streamed artists of 2023 and earned her the Billboard’s Woman of the Year Award.
