Legendary rapper Snoop Dogg recently surprised many of his fans by expressing his admiration for former president Donald Trump, whom he once denounced as a “racist” and a “punk”.

The unexpected shift in Snoop’s attitude towards Trump came after the latter granted clemency to Michael “Harry-O” Harris, a co-founder of Death Row Records, the label that launched Snoop’s career in the early 90s.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, Snoop Dogg said that he had “nothing but love and respect” for Trump, who “ain’t done nothing wrong” to him.

He praised Trump for pardoning Harris, who had served 30 years of a life sentence for attempted murder and drug trafficking. Harris, who was also a drug kingpin and a gang leader, had invested in Death Row Records along with Suge Knight and Dr. Dre. He helped produce some of the most influential rap albums of all time, including Snoop’s debut “Doggystyle”.

Snoop Dogg’s positive remarks about Trump contrast sharply with his previous statements and actions against the former president, who lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden.

Snoop Dogg jests against Donald Trump

In 2017, Snoop Dogg released a controversial music video for his song Lavender, in which he pointed a toy gun at a clown resembling Trump and pulled the trigger, causing a flag with the word “bang” to pop out.

The video sparked outrage among Trump supporters and even drew a response from Trump himself, who tweeted that Snoop Dogg had a “failing career” and would have faced “jail time” if he had done the same to Barack Obama.

In 2018, Snoop Dogg called Trump a “racist” and said that anyone who supported him was also a racist. He also criticized Trump for his policies on immigration, health care, and the environment. In 2020, Snoop Dogg announced that he was voting for the first time in his life, and urged his fans to do the same to get rid of Trump.

He also posted a video on YouTube, in which he listed all the groups of people that Trump had “disrespected”, such as women, gays, transgenders, blacks, Mexicans, Asians, and veterans. He said that Trump was “disrespecting every color in the world and everything that ain’t what he is, which is a racist”.

Snoop Dogg’s apparent change of heart towards Trump has sparked mixed reactions from his followers.
