Shaggy Launches Broadcast Channel; Targets Audience in The United States And Canada

Strength of a Woman crooner Shaggy has reportedly launched a broadcasting channel available to listeners in the United States.

The channel dubbed “Shaggy’s Boombastic Radio” is available on SiriusXM, a satellite radio service that covers the United States and Canada.

Shaggy, known in real life as Orville Richard Burrell, announced on his Facebook page on Thursday, asking listeners to tune into the new “exclusive year-round” channel.

A press release posted by the award-winning performer indicates that the channel will feature the artiste’s reggae, dancehall, and Afrobeats tracks.

Shaggy’s Boombastic Radio, according to the release, will “debut Shaggy and Sting’s recent live performance from their inaugural One Fine Day Festival.”

“The channel is now available to subscribers in their cars on channel 332 and the SiriusXM app,” the statement added.

“The channel was announced as part of SiriusXM’s Next Generation & Industry Preview event in New York.

“Shaggy’s Boombastic Radio, curated entirely by Shaggy, invites listeners to immerse themselves in the sounds of reggae, dancehall, and vibrant Afrobeats,” it noted.

“From the iconic rhythms of Sean Paul and Lady Saw to the dynamic sounds of Wizkid and Burna Boy, Shaggy’s Boombastic Radio is packed with songs that will get everyone moving while celebrating the rich musical traditions of the Caribbean and Africa,” the statement revealed.

The broadcasting channel will also air Shaggy’s current show, (Yaad) which first debuted on SiriusXM’s FLY.

The show, now in its third successful year and hosted by Shaggy, is described as one that “takes listeners on a cultural journey with a wide mix of rare and classic tracks spanning the hip-hop, dancehall and reggae genres.”

Sirius XM Holdings Inc. is an American broadcasting corporation headquartered in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, that provides satellite radio and online radio services in the United States.

The company was formed by the 2008 merger of Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio, merging them into SiriusXM Radio.

SiriusXM music programming includes channels dedicated to multiple decades and genres that span rock, pop, country, R&B, hip-hop, electronic dance, jazz, and many others.

The service also features several artiste-branded channels, including those for Pitbull, The Beatles, Bob Marley, Bruce Springsteen, Eminem, and others.

SiriusXM boasts over 350 channels. This means that a consumer can seek out specific kinds of music and listen to different artistes.

It is one of many outlets, which has shifted from traditional radio channels and providing opportunities for artistes.
