The Prince of Afrobeats, Rema, is warming up for what, perhaps, will be his first international show in 2024 when he mounts the stage at the upcoming BRIT Awards.

He is set to perform alongside Jungle, a British electronic music band, who have also been nominated for the award in the Best Group of the Year category.

Rema is in the same category as Burna Boy and Asake, who have been named in the International Artiste of the Year category at the ceremony scheduled for March 2, 2024, at the O2 arena in London.

The list also includes influential Tyla and British rapper Stomzy. Voting for the award ended on Thursday, February 15, 2024. Rema and Jungle have described their invitation to grace the occasion as an honour.

Renowned broadcasters, Clara Amfo, Maya Jama, and Roman Kemp have been announced as hosts of the main ceremony, while Yinka Bokinni and Jack Saunders will present The BRITs’ Red Carpet session.

BRIT Awards are the annual recognition of popular music, organised by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).

Last month, the awards committee said that the number of nominations for Artiste of the Year and the International Artist categories increased from five to ten, with more than half of all the nominees being females.

The organisers said the winners of this year’s awards will each receive an award designed by visual artist and painter Rachel Jones.

The English singer and songwriter, RAYE, is the most-nominated female, appearing in seven different categories. She has been nominated for Artist of the Year, Mastercard Album of the Year, Best New Artist, Pop Act, and R&B Act, and two other nominations in the Song of the Year category.

Categories such as R&B Acts, Alternative/Rock Acts, Dance Acts, Pop Acts, and Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Acts, have all been well represented.

Dua Lipa, a nominee in the Artist of the Year, Pop Act, and Song of the Year categories, has also been announced as one of the guest performers at the show.

Other artistes nominated for a 2024 BRIT award include Becky Hill, Billie Eilish, CASISDEAD, Charli XCX, Doja Cat, Ed Sheeran, Foo Fighters, Lewis Capaldi, Noah Kahan, Paramore, Peggy Gou, Rema, Stormzy, Tate McRae and Tyla.

In December last year, Rema said he was taking a short break after a series of tours and shows. Perhaps the BRITs show will set the tone for all other activities he plans this year.
