Rema, Burna Boy Win Big at 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards

Rema and Burna Boy were the African acts on the long list of awardees at the 11th edition of the iHeartRadio Awards in the United States on Monday.

Rema grabbed Best Collaboration with Calm Down ft Selena Gomez while Burna Boy was awarded Best African Music Artiste, months after missing out on his 2024 Grammy nominations.

Both performers have since received congratulatory messages from their huge following for the latest trophies.

Kill Bill singer SZA swept majority of the awards, including Song of the Year and R&B Artist of the Year. Other winners include Peso Pluma, Taylor Swift, Ice Spice, and others.

Rap legend Ludacris hosted and performed the awards at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Other artists like Justin Timberlake, Lainey Wilson, TLC, Green Day, Jelly Roll, and Tate McRae also had their own stages.

iHeartRadio Music Awards recognises the most-played artistes and songs on iHeartRadio stations and the iHeartRadio app throughout 2023.

Over the years, it has featured live performances from the biggest artists in music, as well as surprise duets and collaborations, and award presentations in multiple categories.

Top acts like Bon Jovi, Maroon 5, Camila Cabello, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Rihanna, Sam Smith, and a host of others have ever had their turn at the show.

  • Country Song of the Year – Heart Like a Truck by Lainey Wilson
  • Best New Hip-Hop Artist – Ice Spice
  • Hip-Hop Artist of the Year – Drake
  • Hip-Hop Album of the Year – Heroes & Villains by Metro Boomin
  • Hip-Hop Song of the Year – All My Life by Lil Durk ft J Cole
  • Best New R&B Artist – Victoria Monet
