Afrobeats Superstar Rema has been listed among the headliners for the 2024 Afro Nation festival, which comes off later in August this year.

Other stars, including Party Next Door, Adekunle Gold, Ayra Starr, and Ruger are also expected to join the performance in Detroit, USA, on August 17–18.

The celebration is returning to the city for the second time, having been hosted previously in Ghana, Portugal, and Puerto Rico. Organizers say Detroit’s rich history of African American culture makes it the preferred destination for Afro Nation 2024.

The festival offers participants from diverse backgrounds an opportunity to celebrate and connect with Detroit’s vibrant music and artistic communities.

Apart from Afrobeats, the music and culture festival includes performances from across the African diaspora, including hip-hop, R&B, Amapiano, dancehall, and reggae.

The event will take place at Bedrock’s Douglass Site, which is described as “a historically significant housing project in Detroit that was the first federally funded housing project for African Americans in the United States.”

The venue is said to be “home” to icons such as Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson, and other influential African Americans.

With much enthusiasm, organisers say they loved the experience last year and cannot wait to return to the venue where “the magic of music started.”

Some of the headliners of last year’s celebration included Burna Boy, Latto, Ari Lennox, and Dej Loaf. The show also featured several events like a comedy show alongside the main festivities.

Organizers also collaborated with local businesses, which printed special Afro Nation shirts for the occasion and were well-endorsed by attendees. Following the festival last year, Afro Nation reportedly donated $100,000 to the Motown Museum.
