Fans of Michael Jackson might be perplexed because Jaafar Jackson’s portrayal of his late uncle in the first picture is regarded as a bit too accurate.

One may assume that the production team was using artificial intelligence (AI) to bring the “King of Pop” back to life.

Jaafar Jackson, the nephew of Michael Jackson, is a replica of his deceased uncle. In the forthcoming biopic Michael, Jaafar Jackson portrays the legendary singer.

Lionsgate and Universal Pictures International released a first-look image of Jaafar channeling his late uncle Michael in a white V-neck shirt, black pants, and the iconic Man in the Mirror ponytail.

The resemblance between Michael and Jaafar Jackson is extremely striking when you compare old pictures of the two from the 1980s and 1990s.

Jafaar seems to be completely mimicking his uncle, and the latest picture is just the start of what promises to be a lengthy promotional lineup that includes teasers, trailers, and more.

Fans were quick to voice their opinions about Jaafar Jackson’s casting once the photo went viral online.

Photographer Kevin Mazur, one of the numerous photographers to have documented Michael Jackson over the years, took the first-look picture.

Producer Graham King opined: “Every look, every note, and every dance move is Michael with Jaafar. Unlike any other actor, he truly captures the essence of Michael”.

Michael Jackson’s upcoming biopic will chronicle the life of the late pop icon.

“The film presents his triumphs and tragedies on an epic, cinematic scale—from his human side and personal struggles to his undeniable creative genius, captured by his most iconic performances,” a statement from Lionsgate and Universal Pictures International said.

“As never before, audiences will experience an inside look into one of the most influential, trailblazing artistes the world has ever known.”

Michael is scheduled to open in theaters across the globe on April 18, 2025.

Colman Domingo will portray Michael Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson, while Nia Long will play Michael Jackson’s mother, Katherine Jackson.

In addition, Miles Teller will play the role of the singer’s manager, John Branca.
