Patti LaBelle is dropping clues regarding her next album and has hinted at a potentially surprising detail in a collaboration with Cardi B.
The Queen of Soul declared that she would be willing to collaborate with the rapper from the Bronx on a song for her next album, which is expected to drop later this year.
Ms. Patti made this statement at her surprise birthday celebration, according to Entertainment Tonight.
She stated: “I’m still talking. I can still hear. I can see. I can walk. So, what a blessing. I’m still standing. Age is a number. I’m 80 and still good.”
“It’s been twenty years since my last record came out. I’m currently working on that. It’s called 8065, and it should be out at the end of this year. I’ve been in show business for 65 years, and I’m 80 years old.”

And on collaborating with Cardi B, LaBelle clarified:
“Why not? She’s become one of my closest friends, and it makes me happy to learn that she liked Patti LaBelle. She’s like my new buddy.”
If the collaboration works out, it won’t be the first time the two musicians have joined forces.
Cardi B and Patti LaBelle collaborated on a Christmas joy campaign last year with their respective food products, Whip Shots Vodka and Good Life Pies respectively.
The legendary soul singer and Grammy-winning rapper mixed the traditional sweet potato pie with the pumpkin flavor of alcohol-infused whipped cream in a clip shared on social media.
When that happened, Cardi used Instagram to share how happy she was to be working with the icon.
“Oh my God! It’s Patti LaBelle.” The 31-year-old exclaimed when she was welcomed at the door.
Cardi continued talking about her experiences on Instagram, noting it was such an honor to spend time with Ms. Patti and her family.
“It is quite calming to listen to her speak with such gentleness, elegance, and peace. I kept asking her questions just to hear her talk, and when she gave me a hug, it felt like we had known each other for ages! So endearing and adorable, but you can also tell that, when necessary, she can be real Philly on ya a**!”, concluded Cardi B.
