Africa’s very own Tems from Nigeria has recorded an episode of NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series as one of the nine concerts set to be happening this month.

With the assistance of five musicians and three backup vocalists, the musician delivered a five-song set that featured songs from her next album, Born in the Wild.

The Nigerian singer-songwriter opened with Me & U and Ice T and then sang Unfortunate, Forever, and the first single from the new album, Love Me JeJe.

During the entire show, Tems talked about her songs, even Unfortunate, which will be on Born In The Wild but had never been heard before.

“The song is essentially about me being a victim of an unfortunate situation,” she said, describing it as “really special.”

Tems released “Mr. Rebel,” her debut song in 2018. However, she has had a number of hits of her own, including 2020’s Damages and 2022’s Free Mind.

She also had notable cameos on Wizkid’s 2021 hit song Essence and 2022 song Wait for U, featuring Future and Drake.

Tems’ first EP, For Broken Ears, was released in 2020, she followed it up in 2021 with If Orange Was a Place.

In 2023, Tems released two new songs, Me & U and Not an Angel.

The singer recently performed a medley of Love Me JeJe and Born in the Wild on The Tonight Show.

A brief teaser for the album, which included a sample of the title tune, was released by Tems in April.
