Top Afrobeats export, Mr Eazi has released the official video for the song Orokoro, one of the tracks on his 2023 Evil Genuis album, which features the legendary and celebrated Angélique Kidjo.

The singer, who gave a hit about the project early in January this year, has indeed delivered the exciting visuals, which recorded 7,000 views on YouTube in the first four hours after it was released.

Mr Eazi is impressed with the collaboration and the video, having been an ardent listener and a fan of the Wombolombo hitmaker for many years.

He wrote on his X (Twitter handle) with excerpts of the video shoot, saying: “I’ve gone full circle, from watching “Wombo Lombo”  on goge Africa in Sango to co-writing and featuring on mama’s album, ending up on the same song with her and Salif Keita, to now having the living legend on my album and shooting the video on Paris!”

His followers have congratulated the effort, describing him as a legend and an inspiration to many young talents. Mr Eazi was recently recognised as one of the personalities making a positive impact through popular culture.

With a good start in its early hours after the premiere, the video is likely to generate more impressive streams in the weeks and months ahead.

Orokoro is a soothing rhythm with well-defined lead-guitar riffs in the background. It samples Angelique Kidjo’s Wombo Lombo hit song released in the 90s. The five-time Grammy Award winner brought her experience and unfading vocals to give the song a nostalgic and refreshing sound.

In October 2023, Mr Eazi released The Evil Genius project, delving into subjects such as love, betrayal, loneliness, and family. It is unclear if the entrepreneur would release a video for each song on the album, including tracks like Jamboree, Advice, Panadol, Chop Time No Friend, and many others.

Following the positive response to the album so far, the singer has contemplated hosting ‘The Evil Genius’ concert, performing strictly songs on the album, but has yet to come up with a date or make the show official.
