Afrobeat Diva, Yemi Alade, has returned with an ‘upgraded’ version of what we already know as Amapiano. She has tweaked the name slightly to suit her new Extended Play (EP), which she calls MamaPiano.

The project released on Friday, December 15, 2023, is said to be a fusion of Yemi Alade’s profile as “Mama Africa” (Mother of Africa) and her venture into the trending Amapiano genre.

Adopting Amapiano beats on all four songs, the EP has songs titled Amazing, Ladies (Get Up)  EFCC (featuring Ajebo Hustlers) and Ogini.

The Johnny hitmaker demonstrates her prowess on the album as she makes good use of all Amapiano elements.

MamaPiano is said to offer listeners “an exciting exploration of Amapiano” as Yemi Alade displays her dynamism in the craft, which earned her recognition as one of Africa’s most esteemed performers.

With over ten years in the industry, she has served fans across the world with energetic sounds and intriguing performances.

In December 2022, she released a 10-track extended play titled African Baddies, featuring artistes from Ghana and Nigeria.

Yemi Alade is best known for her hit single Johnny released in 2014.  Following the release of her albums King of Queens and Mama Africa, she embarked on world tours consecutively.

In 2016, she debuted on Billboard as No. 4 on the “Next Big Sound” Chart. She won the MTV African Music Awards for Best Female in 2015 and 2016 consecutively and was nominated for Artiste of the Year in 2015.

Yemi Alade is also said to be the second Nigerian Afrobeats artiste and the first female to reach 100 million views for a single video on YouTube after Davido.
