Rapper Kodak Black is facing new charges in his latest drug case after a lab report revealed that he had Oxycodone, a prescription painkiller, in his possession during his arrest last month.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel reported that prosecutors have amended the charges against the 26-year-old artist, who is now accused of one count of Oxycodone possession and one count of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.

Kodak Black’s arrest

Kodak Black, whose real name is Bill K. Kapri, was arrested on December 12, 2023, after police officers found him unconscious behind the wheel of his car in Plantation, Florida.

According to the arrest report, he tried to conceal a white powder by putting it in his mouth when the officers approached him.

The substance initially tested positive for cocaine, but a subsequent lab analysis confirmed that it was Oxycodone, a highly addictive opioid that can cause overdose and death if abused.

Kodak Black has pleaded not guilty to the charges and has requested a trial by jury.

His attorney, Bradford Cohen, said in an Instagram post on Tuesday, January 9, that his client has a valid prescription for Oxycodone and that he was not impaired at the time of his arrest.

Cohen also claimed that the police officers violated Kodak Black’s rights by searching his car without a warrant and by using excessive force to detain him.

This is not the first time that Kodak Black has faced legal troubles. He has been arrested several times on charges ranging from robbery, assault, weapons possession, and sexual assault.

He was released from federal prison in January 2021 after former President Donald Trump granted him a commutation.
