Kendrick Lamar’s former label mate Ab-Soul, the seasoned rapper from Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE), has debuted on the Billboard Hot 100. His collaboration on a track with J. Cole achieved this career milestone.

The track, Pi, is part of J. Cole’s surprise mixtape, Might Delete Later. The song, featuring Daylyt, a newcomer to the Hot 100, secured the 63rd spot on the chart for the week ending Saturday, April 20. The placement was earned with a whopping 8.1 million official U.S. streams.

In addition to its success on the Hot 100, “Pi” also made waves on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, reaching 29th. This achievement is particularly significant for Ab-Soul, marking the first time in his extensive career that he has appeared on the charts.

However, this is not the first time Ab-Soul has worked with industry legends. Over the summer, a video surfaced online showing Nas in the studio with his longtime collaborator Hit-Boy and his father, Big Hit. Ab-Soul and DaBaby were also present at what fans speculate was a recording session.

This recent chart success is a testament to Ab-Soul’s talent and perseverance after being in the rap game for a long time. Ab-Soul, whose real name is Herbert Anthony Stevens IV, is an American rapper born on February 23, 19871. He was raised in Carson, California, and signed to the indie record label Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) in 2007. He formed the West Coast hip-hop group Black Hippy alongside fellow California-based rappers Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, and Schoolboy Q there.
