Kanye West wants his influence on the music industry to be acknowledged by others. To promote their popular Vultures project, the Praise God crooner and Ty Dolla Sign appeared on Big Boy TV, and West did not hold back while discussing his influence in the music industry.

“I invented every style of music of the past 20 years. I created the genre,” Ye stated bluntly.

Since starting his career with Roc-A-Fella Records, the rapper and producer has collaborated with a plethora of musicians. As far as West is concerned, a lot of people, including some of his buddies, have succeeded because of his music.

Ye talked about creating every genre of music in the past 20 years, including drill, rock rap, new country, mumble rap, and drill. In the recent hour-and-a-half interview with radio host Big Boy, Kanye West asserted that he was the creator of every musical genre that has emerged in the previous twenty years.

“And of this music game, I am, but not under Lucian [UMG CEO Lucian Grainge],” Ye told Big Boy.

“You know what I’m saying—I invented every style of music of the past 20 years. I created the genre. I created The Weeknd genre, Trav, Drake,… everybody. I’m going to go ahead and say, with all love, Future and Thug also. Because of the autotune album. 808s, if you think about it. Everybody thinks about Trav, Weeknd, and Drake, but no one thinks about Future or Thug either. The auto-tune album. Now everyone added whatever it was to it. But here’s a new genre. It’s called making your own money. This music is called, like, take that middleman out,” the Yeezy founder explained to Big Boy.

Kanye has long displayed a godlike demeanor, frequently identifying himself in the media as a well-known creator and holy figure. Ye appears in Greek Renaissance paintings as an Egyptian deity in the music video for his 2010 song Power.

Rolling Loud: LA, which took place in Los Angeles recently, included Y$ and Ye as the headliners. The pair is doing live listening sessions worldwide to promote their new collaborative album, Vultures Vol. 1 – this is the first in what will be a trilogy.

The second installment in the trilogy was set for March 8, however, it was delayed. There is no official word on the new release date for Vultures Vol. 2.

Given Kanye’s past with his fellow artistes, except for Drake, with whom he has an intermittent friendship, Ye still seems to be cordial with every one of the artistes he mentioned. A few days prior, he had criticized the OVO leader for bringing Lil Durk along when they first started to tour with Vultures.

Given that Drizzy is currently on tour, it might take a while for him to respond to Ye’s comments.

Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Young Thug, and Future have not reacted.
