DJ Akademiks has claimed that Toronto rapper Drake has waited a decade to engage in a lyrical battle with Kendrick Lamar.

In one of the latest episodes of his Off the Record podcast, Akademiks disclosed that he had been in contact with the rapper amid the reignited feud with Kendrick Lamar.

According to him, Drake had been observing Kendrick’s pattern of dropping verses that create hype, only to disappear afterwards. This has left Drake ready to defend himself and engage in the lyrical battle.

Interestingly, Drake is said to be aware of a rumored diss track that Kendrick has kept hidden for years. This could explain why the rapper has been consistently taunting Lamar. Akademiks added that Drake seems eager for the showdown to happen sooner rather than later.

Akademiks has been critical of Kendrick’s silence over Drake’s diss songs Push Ups and Taylor Made Freestyle. He expressed on X (formerly Twitter) that he would change his tune if Kendrick finally responded, especially if it was good. However, he finds it odd that Kendrick might be trying to sell his next album with the diss.

Drake takes down Kendrick Lamar diss because of 2Pac

In related news, Drake recently removed his second Kendrick Lamar diss track following legal threats from the estate of 2Pac.

In the Taylor Made Freestyle, he used artificial intelligence to mimic the voices of 2Pac and Snoop Dogg to diss Kendrick, which didn’t sit well with the late rapper’s estate.

This decade-long lyrical showdown between Drake and Kendrick Lamar has certainly heated up, leaving fans eagerly waiting for the next move. As the tension escalates, the rap industry watches on, anticipating a battle of epic proportions.
