iHeartRadio, one of the largest broadcast, podcast, and radio streaming platforms in the United States (US), has released the list of most listened-to songs and artistes in the US for the year 2023.

The artistes and musicians were compiled based on the Total Audience Spins (TAS) and streams across iHeartRadio stations in the US and on the iHeartRadio app. It names artistes and songs across genres like pop, country, hip-hop, alternative, and R&B.

The 2023 list has Taylor Swift on top with 2.8 billion TAS. One of her hit songs, Anti-Hero is also among the Top 10 most-played songs.

Earlier in November, Taylor Swift was named Billboard’s Top Artiste of the Year, as she dominated the Billboard 200 albums and Hot 100 chart. It is therefore not surprising that she is the most-listened-to artiste on iHeartRadio.

Apart from Taylor Swift, the remaining four are Sza, Morgan Wallen, The Weeknd, and Miley Cyrus. TAS has a computing formula but not to bore you with the details, let’s jump into a brief description of the most-played artistes.

Sza (2.3+ billion)

Solána Imani Rowe, known professionally as SZA, is an American singer-songwriter who first gained recognition through her self-released extended plays (EPs).

Her discography includes Good Days, I Hate U, Nobody Gets Me, and Snooze. She earned her first No.1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 with Kill Bill in 2023.

The 34-year-old has received many accolades throughout her career, including an American Music Award, a Guild of Music Supervisors Award, two Billboard Women in Music awards, and a nomination for a Brit Award.

As a songwriter, she has co-written songs for Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, and Rihanna. She embarked on the SOS Tour in 2023 to promote her album, playing 54 shows across North America and Europe.

Morgan Wallen (2.1+ billion)

Morgan Cole Wallen (born May 13, 1993) is an American country music singer and songwriter who released his debut EP, Stand Alone, in 2015.

He has received several awards including an Academy of Country Music Award and fourteen Billboard Music Awards. He has lots of work to his credit. The album, One Thing at a Time released in (2023), topped the Billboard 200 for 16 non-consecutive weeks.

With all 36 tracks on the album entering the Billboard Hot 100, he broke the record for most songs by an artiste on the chart at one time. The single, Last Night also peaked atop the Hot 100 in 2023, becoming Wallen’s first single to do so.

The Weeknd (1.89+ billion)

Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, known professionally as the Weeknd, is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and record producer.

His accolades include 4 Grammy Awards, 20 Billboard Music Awards, 22 Juno Awards, 6 American Music Awards, 2 MTV Video Music Awards, a Latin Grammy Award, and nominations for an Academy Award and a Primetime Emmy Award.

On February 2, 2018, he contributed to the soundtrack for Black Panther on the song Pray for Me with Kendrick Lamar. The track served as the third single from the soundtrack and peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100.

His repertoire includes After Hours, Blinding Lights, Starboy, Earned It, and many others.

Miley Cyrus (1.87+ billion)

Singer and actress Miley Ray Cyrus, nicknamed “Pop Chameleon,” is known for her musical versatility and is also referred to as the “Teen Queen” of the 2000s pop culture.

Her awards include 19 Teen Choice Awards, five Billboard Music Awards, four World Music Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, and a People’s Choice Award.
