Afrobeats budding talent, Fireboy DML, has attained a new milestone with his 2021 single Peru, which has so far accrued 100 million streams on Spotify.

Released in July 2021, the fine melody has been streamed over 47 million times on Audiomack.

With hundreds of records under his belt, Fireboy has been one of the most hardworking Afrobeats talents and continues to make waves with records like Bandana featuring Asake and the most recent Outside and Obasima.

Peru was written by Fireboy DML, Ivory Scott, and Kolten Perine, and produced by Shizzi and Perine. Later in December 2021, another version of the song was released in collaboration with English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran.

It has won many accolades, including a nomination for Song of the Year at the 2021 African Entertainment Awards in the USA. Between 2021 and 2022, it appeared on charts in Canada, the Netherlands, Sweden, France, and many others and reached No. 1 on the US Afrobeats chart and No. 2 on the UK singles chart.

The official video for Peru, with Ed Sheeran, has 195 million streams on YouTube. The recent Spotify figures will not be too much of a surprise, as it is more or less an endorsement of good music of African origin.

Peru remix with Ed Sheeran has also been certified in France, Denmark, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Sometime in November last year, Fireboy released Oh My—a melodic, low-tempo Afrobeat rhythm that went down well with fans. Its soft beats and emotive harmonies have attracted some 2 million streams on Audiomack.

The Bandana hitmaker went ahead to drop a double titled Outside featuring Blaqbonz and the other called Obasima, which all came with admirable music videos.
