Boxing champion, Roy Jones Jr. announced Monday that his son, DeAndre, 32, took his own life according to a representative.

Jones, 55, who has won titles in numerous weight divisions, wrote on X that he was grateful to have spent the night with his son before he died on Saturday.

The former four-weight world champion is regarded as one of the best fighters in boxing history.

Despite requests to retire, he has continued to fight in recent years.

Following his victory in 2018, he returned two years later to face fellow legend Mike Tyson in an opinion-dividing exhibition bout.

Jones recently walked through the ropes again in a professional fight, losing by points to former UFC star Anthony Pettis.

The 55-year-old has experienced numerous hurdles in the boxing ring, which he has successfully overcome.

This turn of events will have great impact on the boxing legend and rightly so, even fans have been hard hit by the news and are reacting to it.

So many men in this world suffering silently, so much expectations and pressure can only make a man do the unthinkable. We can only express our heartfelt sympathies to Roy and his family during this difficult time.

DeAndre, born on July 1, 1992, was the youngest of Jones and wife Natlyn’s three children, following his brothers Roy III and DeShaun.

Authorities have yet to confirm any specifics surrounding his death on Saturday, and no other information has been provided.
