The late Rico Wade, an Atlanta music icon, is set to be honored by one of Atlanta’s sons, CeeLo Green, as the city’s music scene bows to history.

Wade was a founding member of the Dungeon Family and one of the three members of Organized Noize. He passed away recently at the age of 52. His contributions to classic albums and the beginning of the careers of musicians like OutKast and Green defined his career.

To honor the late legend, Goodie Mob member CeeLo Green said on Instagram that he had bought Rico Wade’s former residence with plans to convert it into a museum.

He added, “We moved into ‘the White House’ since Rico Wade was appointed commander and chief of Atlanta music culture by unanimous decision.” It is the father’s victories, not his sins. The White House was deserted as our prosperity had allowed us to all purchase our own homes.”

He went on, “Mr. Rico Wade chose to nurture his new family in a more traditional manner, which was always his Qwaint and guarded taste. I learned that this home was for sale and that its tenants had not maintained it well over the years. I subsequently decided to purchase this landmark and monument on my own. It was too valuable and significant to ignore. I would have paid more than the asking price of almost one million dollars! Saying this to myself and my real estate partner makes me proud. That was my sister’s gift to the family! It is my joy. It will eventually be a museum preserving our extensive musical heritage.”

Rico reportedly told the media that while he had been dealing with health problems, he appeared to be getting better.

He said, “They just rerouted my heart because it had a ruptured valve and was leaking. My father’s side of the family has heart issues. I was actually unaware of it. My mother’s sister suffers from alcoholism”.

While the Outkast period of success was fantastic, I experienced a brief depressive episode or something similar, which led to my consuming more alcohol than I should have. I had been doing it for ten, fifteen, or more years. And ultimately, I stopped it, as I had no other rationale for the bad things that were happening in my life. I feel like I’ve changed so much over the past 20 years—I’m a lot more confident and clear”.

Rico’s cause of death is still unknown.
