With 1.8 million hits on the official YouTube video so far, Black Sherif and Mabel’s new single, titled Zero has sneaked onto the Afrobeats Chart in the United Kingdom.

Released early on February 8, 2024, the sound is currently ranked seventh on the list and could climb higher in the weeks ahead.

The low-tempo composition, with some hip-hop effects, encourages listeners to ignore drama from people and heal from any trauma.

Zero premiered on BBC Radio 1 in London and was described by Black Sherif as “art” made with Mabel in their “most vulnerable state.” It has received positive reviews since it premiered, including a subtle endorsement from MTV Music UK.

The song follows Black Sherif’s January 9th single, released early in January to commemorate his 22nd birthday. January 9, just like Zero, made its debut on the Billboard Afrobeats Chart, weeks after it was released.

The streaming figures for Zero continue to increase and will hopefully be ranked sometime as one of the most impressive collaborations so far. The union between Blacko and Mabel was the first time the two were working on such a remarkable project.

As an artiste, Mabel, born Mabel Alabama-Pearl Mcvey, has been on the music scene for years. She announced her presence with the single Finders Keepers in 2017, which made a good No. 8 impression on the UK Singles Chart that year.

Her debut album, High Expectations followed in 2019, before she announced other singles like Don’t Call Me Up, Mad Love, Boyfriends, and others. She won the Brit Award for British Female Solo Artist in 2020.

She has other recognitions including BBC Radio1 Teen Awards, MTV Brand New Artiste Award in 2018 and an Urban Music Award for Best Music Video in 2020. In 2022, she announced her second album titled About Last Night.
