A massive endorsement for Black Sherif’s 2024 single, January 9th, has contributed to its debut on the US Billboard Afrobeats Chart. The track has been ranked 46th on the list and could climb further in the weeks and months ahead.

The showstopper and Afrobeats gem unveiled the song to coincide with his 22nd birthday, which came on January 9, 2023. It also came with a captivating video, which has recorded one hundred and two million YouTube views so far.

January 9th blends local Ghanaian languages with English. It is a summary of uplifting beats and hard punchlines that sees the singer talking about aspects of life, indicating that “everything is under control,” despite the ill motives of enemies.

Black Sherif, as always, depicted his storytelling ability fused with inspiring lyrics, which kept the listener hooked from start to finish. He opened the year 2024 with a fresh composition, which is a follow-up to his November 2023 single titled Oh No, which was described as a reaffirmation of his “destiny and calling.”

This was after he dropped the Extended Play (EP) known as Take Care of Yourself, with two tracks: Yaya and Simmer Down.

Black Sherif made history in October when he became the second Ghanaian, after Sarkodie, to win the BET Hip Hop Award for ‘Best International Flow at the 2023 Hip Hop Awards hosted in Atlanta, USA. He continues to adopt an energetic flow on Afro-Hip-Hop tunes while reflecting on a myriad of themes in his songs.
