Four years after his “murder”, events leading to George Floyd‘s death will captured in a new film produced by his daughter and mother.

Titled Daddy Saved The World, the production is expected to throw on aspects of life and the “harrowing incident” of his death in the hands of a police officer.

George Floyd’s mother, Roxie Washington, and Gianna Floyd, his daughter who was six years old at the time of his death, are the executive producers of the film. It is, however, unknown when the movie will be released.

The project, according to reports, is being worked on in multiple studios including Radar Pictures, 8 Queens Film & Media Productions, and Night Fox Entertainment.

George Floyd, 46, died on May 25, 2020, after a former Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin, who had since been sentenced to prison, was seen on camera pinning his knee to Floyd’s neck for about nine minutes.

The viral video of his death triggered mass protests in the United States amid calls for justice and the expression “Black Lives Matter”. A stored clerk had reportedly suspected Floyd of using a counterfeit $20 bill, but his supposed arrest and altercation with the police turned bloody.

The project, according to news sources “will not be a straightforward biopic,” and will not portray Floyd as a perfect person but “as one with flaws and many layers like all of us.”

Black American, George Perry Floyd Jr, was born October 14 1973 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He grew up in Houston, Texas, playing football and basketball throughout high school and college. Between 1997 and 2005, he was convicted of eight crimes.

According to public records, he served four years in prison after accepting a plea bargain for a 2007 aggravated robbery in a home invasion. After he was paroled in 2013, he served as a mentor in his religious community and posted anti-violence videos on social media.

In 2014, he moved to the Minneapolis area, residing in the nearby suburb of St. Louis Park, and worked as a truck driver and bouncer. In 2020, he lost his job as a truck driver, and then his security job during the COVID-19 pandemic before the incident leading to his death.

Subsequently, the City of Minneapolis settled a wrongful death lawsuit with Floyd’s family for $27 million.
