After a long wait, the Prince of Afrobeats, Rema, has returned with his first single for the year 2024. The song titled Benin Boys is a collaboration with rising singer and rapper Shallipopi.
Both talents from Benin State, Nigeria, brought their unique musical traits onto the Afrosound which is gaining traction online.
An official music video released on Friday is gathering some significant streaming figures on YouTube and is likely to increase in the days ahead.
The theme of the sound is centered on wealth creation as the two artistes talk about their financial successes in the fast-tempo composition.
Rema released his Ravage Extended Play (EP) last year and seemed to have taken a long break since then. With the arrival of the latest sound, fans will be looking forward to other bangers he will release until the end of the year.

His debut studio album, Rave & Roses, arrived in 2022 and featured chart-topping and award-winning “Calm Down,” which had Selena Gomez to the remix.
In May this year, Rema expressed satisfaction with his works since his 2019 debut on the music scene, saying he was ‘flattered’ with the many artistes who try to “copy his style.”
“I have so many plans for evolving the sound; I’ve always been that guy who just wants to change the game…change how the game is perceived, from sound to show branding.
“Even though some artistes will not give me that glory, I know how many people have copied my moves and I am flattered by it…it shows I’m bringing something to the game,” he told Rolling Stone in an interview.
Ravage EP by Rema came in October 2023, with songs like DND, Red Potion, Smooth Criminal, Don’t Leave, and Trouble Maker, which all had positive reviews.
In April this year, Rema and Burna Boy were the African acts on the long list of awardees at the 11th edition of the iHeartRadio Awards held in the United States. Rema grabbed the Best Collaboration award for Calm Down ft Selena Gomez. m
