After being made fun of and subjected to criticism by the public ever since he smacked Chris Rock in the face, Will Smith is finally having his comeback moment.

However, it seems that the current wave of polarized public opinion may not abate anytime soon.

“Chris is telling people how “lame” he finds it and believes it to be a pretty cheap stunt,” after Smith recreated the 2022 Oscars slap in a scene in his latest Bad Boys: Ride or Die movie.

Since the incident that made headlines, Chris has reportedly made an effort to maintain a “low profile” because he “finds Will’s attention-seeking nauseating” and finds it annoying that people continue to bring it up.

He went through as much as Will did, and now Will has used it as fodder for a humorous moment in his film.

For Chris, it serves as further evidence that Will is a ‘complete moron’ who merits all the abuse he has received.

Chris will not back down, and he will seize any opportunity to exact revenge on Will in the future.

Notably, Will Smith has issued multiple private apologies.

However, the script has reopened old wounds with Chris Rock, who is not at all amused by Will’s attempt at reinventing himself.

Many fans had differing opinions regarding Will’s recreation of the embarrassing incident. Some supporters are also rallying behind the West Philadelphia native.

The slap occurred when Will Smith defended his wife’s honor in response to a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s bald head and “G.I. Jane”.

The incident enabled Smith’s wife to come clean about her struggle with alopecia which also resulted in a ten-year suspension for Will from the Oscars.

Chris has, however, made great use of the slap in his stand-up routines, utilizing it to interact with audiences, raise ticket prices, and land a live Netflix special in which he went into great detail about the incident.

Netizens have noted that while Rock has consistently dismissed Smith’s repeated apologies and public remorse, he (Rock) has never apologized to Pinkett Smith, who claimed she suffers from alopecia, for comparing her to G.I. Jane for having a short Caesar cut.

One person wrote. “I will apologize and deserve fan support. Did Chris ever apologize for attacking Jada? Words matter too.”

Other X users also referenced the recent Kevin Hart roast on Netflix (recorded during the Netflix Is a Joke Fest on May 11). Chris Rock took a slick swipe at Hart’s first wife, Torrei Hart.

Kevin cracked up when Chris Rock said that; he looks like he has “that second wife happiness” referring to his marriage to his current wife, Eniko Hart.

That joke caused many to revisit his joke about Jada.

A fan tweeted. “He did that to get a laugh out of white people. Karma is coming for Chris Rock. I can’t wait.”

Another fan also tweeted, “Folks think Will Smith should slap him again. Agreed”.
