Cardi B has never held back when sharing her ideas on pop culture and current affairs. This time, she is speaking candidly about homosexuality and how she thinks some people come to identify as gay.

The controversial Netflix movie Baby Reindeer is said to have influenced the rapper’s most recent reflections, which prompted her to discuss her views on homosexuality.

The subject of the biographical-drama film is Richard Gadd, the film’s writer and star, who talks about his experience being stalked.

It made him confront the trauma he had experienced from being raped by another man, which in turn caused him to doubt his own sexual identity.

Cardi posted,  “I watched this show, Baby Reindeer, on Netflix, and I haven’t been able to finish watching it because around the fourth or fifth episode, it kind of traumatized me a little bit and it freaked me out.”

“It’s so important for us to know certain male perspectives about these types of things because women go through a lot of sexual assault, but we don’t really get to hear or see what other men go through when they experience it,” she continued, citing a moment in the movie that depicts same-sex rape.

“I believe there’s some men that are born gay. I have a cousin that I just knew, since he was two years old, was gay,” she continued. “And there’s men that get sexually assaulted, then they find out they are gay.”

There will always be individuals who judge them and who will not accept them. People occasionally don’t even know how they got there or their tale.”

Citing the character’s early heterosexuality prior to his assault, she continued, “Not everybody is born gay.”

She added, “He was sexually assaulted, so he just wanted to figure out what he liked. “I’m not in a position to comment on this because I’m a straight black woman, but I will say that it’s never a good idea to discount someone’s experience or self-discovery path, and I hope that all sexual assault survivors will continue to receive the support they require”.
