Soon after launching her new album, Jennifer Lopez jumped on to her second passion—acting. The singer and movie icon is starring in a new movie titled Atlas, set to premiere on Netflix in May.

The movie premiere will happen about a month before her ‘This is Me…Now’ tour, which is aimed at promoting the new album, released early this year.

According to the plot in Atlas, Jennifer plays the role of “a government analyst who’s hurled to a distant world on a quest to defeat her oldest enemy.”

The movie tells the story of Atlas Shepherd (Jennifer Lopez), “a brilliant but misanthropic data analyst with a deep distrust of artificial intelligence, who joins a mission to capture a renegade robot with whom she shares a mysterious past. But when plans go awry, her only hope of saving the future of humanity from AI is to trust it.”

Atlas is described as a “galaxy-spanning adventure set in a high-tech and futuristic world. It is written by Leo Sardarian and Aron Eli Coleite and directed by Brad Peyton. The movie will go live on May 24, 2024.

The cast, in addition to Jennifer Lopez, includes Simu Liu, Sterling K. Brown, Gregory J. Cohan, Abraham Popoola, Lana Parrilla, and Mark Strong.

Jennifer Lopez had previously been featured in a movie called The Mother, and her fans will be looking forward to how her appearance on Atlas pans out.

It would be recalled that Jennifer Lopez’s new This is Me…Now album arrived early in February with several positive reviews from music lovers online. It was her first project since 2014.

Before the album touched down, she released the wedding-themed single Can’t Get Enough, which came out in January 2024 with an enchanting music video, praised for its quality visuals and “hidden messages.”

The On The Floor singer will begin her ‘This is Me…Now ‘ tour on June 26, 2024, at the Kia Centre in Orlando, and later go through Miami, Florida, Austin, Edinburg, and San Antonio on different dates, and finally wrap up on August 31, 2024 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
