American singer Ashanti is expecting her first baby at age 43 with her boyfriend rapper Nelly. The couple rekindled their romance earlier in 2023 after over a decade apart.

Longtime Former Flames Back Together After 2013 Split

Ashanti and Nelly first dated between 2003-2013 after meeting at a Grammy Awards press conference. Though their romance fizzled after a decade, the musicians were spotted holding hands at a Las Vegas boxing match in April.

Nelly confirmed they had reconnected on the Philo TV show “Boss Moves” in September, saying the reconciliation “surprised both of us.”

Pregnancy Hints Dropped at Nelly’s St. Louis Performance

Pregnancy rumors began swirling this weekend when Ashanti attended Nelly’s Black and White Ball in his hometown St. Louis. At the show, both placed a hand on Ashanti’s stomach, hinting at a baby announcement.

A video shared by TMZ shows the couple laughing on stage after the seeming pregnancy tease. A source has now confirmed to Us Weekly that the musicians are indeed expecting.

Nelly a Dad Already, First Child for Ashanti

If the reports turn out to be true and the new baby gets born, the cwill be a child will be the first for 43-year-old Ashanti.

Nelly, 49, already has daughter Chanelle, 29, and son Cornell Haynes III, 24, with ex Channetta Valentine.

Relationship Has Grown Serious Fast Since Reuniting

Though Ashanti did not expect to reunite with Nelly after their 2013 breakup, an insider said the formerly on-off couple has been “enjoying spending time together” since reconciling this spring.

They went Instagram official in October for Ashanti’s birthday. Last month, she surprised Nelly with his dream car as a birthday gift. When a fan suggested he get Ashanti pregnant, Nelly replied “I’m on it.”

Meanwhile, as Ashnati and Nelly’s relationship flourishes, fellow American musicians Cardi B and Offset are facing marital toubles.

The two have unfollowed each other on Instagram, sparking speculation that their six-year-old marriage is in jeopardy.
