On May 23, 2024, Cassie made her first public statement following the release of the unsettling surveillance footage that showed the abuse she experienced at the hands of Diddy.

The mom of two, in a post shared on her official Instagram account, noted:

“Thank you for all of the love and support from my family, friends, strangers, and those I have yet to meet. The outpouring of love has created a place for my younger self to settle and feel safe now, but this is only the beginning. Domestic Violence is THE issue. It broke me down to someone I never thought I would become. With a lot of hard work, I am better today, but I will always be recovering from my past.”

She continued, “Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to take this matter seriously. My only ask is that EVERYONE open your heart to believing victims the first time. It takes a lot of heart to tell the truth out of a situation that you were powerless in. Offering my hand to those who are still living in fear. Reach out to your people, don’t cut them off. No one should carry this weight alone. This healing journey is never-ending, but this support means everything to me. Thank you. Love Always, Cassie.”

Her husband, Alex Fine, who has been her main supporter ever since she filed the lawsuit against the business mogul in November which he quickly settled the day after, has continued to show her love and support.

He commented on her statement with a heart emoji and shared a post that read:

“End violence against women.”

His last IG Story post included stats of women who face violence worldwide. “This stat is all of Our moms, wives, daughters, sisters, and friends. This is an epidemic,” he said.

“Women aren’t protected by the justice system, their stories aren’t heard, and every community needs to support them.”

The video in question showed Diddy dragging, kicking, and beating the singer in 2016 in the hallway of a Los Angeles hotel.

Diddy who has previously denied allegations of abuse and sexual assault has since apologized for his actions after getting caught in the act.

“It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that,” Diddy said on Instagram.

“I was f—ed up — I hit rock bottom — but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable.”

Diddy is still facing a mountain of lawsuits over sex trafficking, sexual abuse, and assault.
