Young Thug’s legal team is making moves to appeal the judge’s denial of the “Motion to Dismiss” in the YSL RICO trial.

Filed on December 18, 2023, by Young Thug’s attorney, Brian Steel, the appeal aims to fast-track the resolution process. By this,.they are seeking to overturn the judge’s decision and possibly set Young Thug free.

Young Thugs team wants him freed

The YSL RICO trial has Thug facing eight charges under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), a federal law targeting organized crime.

Marked by its prolonged duration, the trial has faced challenges, particularly during the complex jury selection process.

Brian Steel, representing Young Thug, has been working to quash the RICO charges by citing the statute of limitations.

Court documents reveal that the motion, filed on June 23, 2023, contends that the accusations against Young Thug and his YSL co-defendants surpass the allowable time frame for a state RICO charge.

Steel argues for the dismissal of the charges, asserting that the prosecution must prove, beyond reasonable doubt, the occurrence of at least one overt act within the statute of limitations.

The motion emphasizes that any overt act dated before approximately May 2017 is considered other crime evidence, barred by the applicable statute of limitations.

It further argues that such evidence is prejudicial to Mr. Williams (Young Thug) and lacks probative value.

Shakira escapes jail term

Meanwhile Shakira’s trial over tax fraud in Spain has been closed barely after it started with the singer escaping jail.

The international pop sensation reached a resolution on the very first day of the trial, agreeing to a suspended three-year sentence and a hefty €7 million fine.

The Grammy-winning artist, known for her chart-topping hits and energetic performances, opted to settle the matter, citing the well-being of her children as a primary motivation.
