Volume two of Wizkid’s Soundman Extended Play (EP) released last year has exceeded 500 million streams on Spotify, according to data released by an independent monitoring platform this week.

The extended play shortened as S2 (EP) was a follow-up to volume one of the same project released in 2019 with seven songs.

Soundman 2 (EP) has four tracks and features top acts like Wande Coal and Zlatan Ibile. Songs on the compilation include Ololufe ft. Wande Coal, Energy, Diamonds, and Idk ft. Zlatan Ibile, which climbed charts in his home country and beyond.

The project followed the release of the album More Love, Less Ego, which was released in November 2022. In January this year, Wizkid released a new video for the soundtrack Diamonds off the S2 (EP) which generated discussions among online fans.

The three-minute video shows Wizkid sitting topless on a stool in a dark room, with his back facing the camera.  He starts performing the song before facing the camera with the more punchy lyrics of the single which has attracted positive reviews.

“Wizzy keeps getting even better and there’s apparently no limits to his greatness… Diamonds don’t struggle to shine,” a fan wrote about the visuals, which has so far generated 2.8 million views on YouTube.

In March this year, the award-winning music sensation, said he will dedicate his next album to the memory of his mother who passed on last year. The project is titled Morayo but a release date was not confirmed.

The Holla At Your Boy singer described the compilation on his social media handle as the “best ever made” but dissociated himself from the Afrobeats genre, for which he has been celebrated over the years.

According to him, the new album is not Afrobeats, therefore, fans who love the genre should not download the album.

He recently appeared on the new album by Jamaican songstress, Shenseea, on the song titled Work Me Out, which has some positive feedback online.
