Tory Lanez has been making every effort to leave prison after he was convicted in August of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020 and received a 10-year prison sentence.
The performer and his supporters have persisted in advocating for his release ever since he was handed his sentence.
But now a fresh image of the 31-year-old has surfaced online, and he seems to be doing alright.
The image of Lanez and his close friend Ray Written was shared on social media. It shows the two of them standing in front of a mural. Lanez has a broad smile, a peace sign, and is clad in an all-denim outfit.
Ray wrote a caption for his post which read “I went to visit my brother yesterday. I have never seen a fresher, cleaner air force than what man possesses. High spirits and amazing energy. We will always be by your side, and you’ll soon return home.”
Considering Lanez’s situation, he appears to be in high spirits; he recently submitted a new motion to have his sentence vacated.
Jauquan Smith, his bodyguard and driver, testified that he witnessed Megan Thee Stallion being shot, which is the basis for his most recent motion.
Smith says he saw Meg and Tory argue, and that argument escalated into a fight between Kelsey Harris and the Cobra crooner. At one point, he claims to have seen Harris holding a gun, and when the shot was fired, Lanez attempted to take it from her hand. As he puts it, he “did not see who shot the weapon.”
Before starting his sentence at North Kern State Prison in Delano, California, Tory Lanez got married to the mother of his child, according to court documents.
His team is putting a lot of effort into appealing the ruling. Their efforts however proved insufficient as the request was turned down by the California Court of Appeal on September 14 after they were unable to secure a new trial and were refused bail.
