SoundCloud and seasoned music executive Sickamore have joined forces to create IIIXL Studio, a Brooklyn-based company dedicated to signing and developing New York City-based artistes.

The combination of SoundCloud’s proprietary data and the executive’s talent-spotting abilities will enable Sickamore (born Randall Medford) to search the New York City region for hip-hop acts and support them through the company’s artiste development program.

Once the talent is identified, Sickamore will bring it to SoundCloud’s artiste partnerships division, where the company will provide the artiste(s) and their team(s) with marketing tools and creative support.

Furthermore, IIIXL Studio will receive additional support from APG’s label partnership division.

Sickamore will provide artistes and their teams with marketing and creative resources by collaborating closely with SoundCloud’s artist partnerships specialists.

There are plans to host a monthly showcase of the best up-and-coming hip-hop artistes in New York City.

“Music has been my life and has taken me around the world as a mixtape DJ, A&R, and manager for more than 20 years,” Sickamore, the IIIXL founder, told Billboard in an interview. My proudest moment is launching IIIXL Studio and working with SoundCloud to develop high-end hip-hop artists in my hometown of New York City.”

Sickmore has previously worked at major labels like Epic Records and Interscope Records and has collaborated with celebrities like Travis Scott, YG, Don Toliver, and Sheck Wes.

The CEO of SoundCloud, Eliah Seton indicated: “We’re very excited for what’s next because Sickamore is one of the most creative and influential talents in our field. By contributing his enthusiasm, commitment, and knowledge, Sickamore will develop the next wave of music on SoundCloud and introduce significant new artistes.”
