The world gets really shocked when stories about celebrity suicides are reported. Even though many celebs may have achieved great success as public figures, it is hard to know what suffering these well-known individuals may be hiding beneath the surface.

Celebrities in particular need to strike a balance between their wealth, notoriety and all other facets of life.

A person who takes his or her own life is frequently deeply troubled, but this is often unknown until after they pass away. However, a good number of other well-known people succumbed to their despair and proceeded to end their lives, shocking everyone in the process.

Here are six celebrities who have sadly left this world after they ended their own lives.

Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss

On December 13, 2022, Stephen “tWitch” Boss, a longtime DJ and dancer on the Ellen talk show committed suicide. He was barely forty years old. tWitch was discovered dead in a Los Angeles hotel room from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. TMZ reported that “an ambiguous reference to his past challenges” was found in a suicide note.

Phyllis Hyman

Popular R&B singer Phyllis Hyman appeared to have overdosed on prescription drugs on June 30, 1995, leading to her demise. She was forty-five.

Etika

On June 25, 2019, the body of social media star Etika, whose real name is Desmond Amofah, was discovered in New York City’s East River. Subsequently, it was established that the 29-year-old committed suicide.

Cheslie Kryst

On January 29, 2022, Cheslie Kryst, a former beauty pageant winner who also worked as a TV show hostess and an attorney, committed suicide by jumping from a New York City apartment building. She had just turned thirty. In addition to winning Miss USA in 2019, Kryst placed among the top 10 in the Miss Universe pageant.

Don Cornelius

On February 1, 2012, Don Cornelius, the creator and host of the Soul Train TV dance program, committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. He was seventy-five years old.

Kate Spade

In June 2018, the renowned designer was discovered hanging from a red scarf on her bedroom door at her New York City apartment.
