Former NFL star Sergio Brown is facing serious legal trouble after being accused of killing his own mother.

A judge in Illinois has ordered that he be remanded without bail, citing concerns about his flight risk and potential threat to the community.

Brown, 35, was arrested in San Diego on October 10 while trying to re-enter the United States from Mexico. Following his arrest, he was extradited to Maywood, a suburb of Chicago, where he now faces charges of first-degree murder and concealing a dead body in connection to the death of his mother, Myrtle Brown. These charges were filed by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Judges’ decision to remand Segio Brown

The judge’s decision to remand Brown without bail came after a hearing where the seriousness of the charges and the potential danger he might pose to the community were discussed. The judge determined that due to the nature of the allegations and the fact that Brown was arrested while attempting to cross the border, he might be a flight risk.

The case has sent shockwaves through the community, as Sergio Brown was once a celebrated NFL player known for his prowess on the football field. Now, the allegations against him have cast a dark shadow on his reputation.

Details surrounding the alleged crime are still emerging, and the investigation is ongoing. Myrtle Brown’s body was reportedly concealed, leading to the charge of concealing a dead body in addition to the more serious charge of first-degree murder. The motive behind the alleged crime remains unclear.

The arrest and subsequent legal proceedings have drawn significant media attention, with many in the community expressing their shock and concern over the allegations against Brown.

Former NFL star Mike Williams passes away

Meanwhile, another former NFL wide receiver Mike Williams has passed away at age 36 from injuries he reportedly suffered at a construction site, sources say.

Spectrum News’ Jon Scott first reported the death on X, formerly Twitter, on September 5, saying “multiple sources have confirmed to me that former Syracuse and Bills WR Mike Williams has passed away following injuries suffered during an accident while working at a construction site.”

At Syracuse University, William played football, scoring 20 touchdowns from 2006 to 2009.
