Afrobeats sensation, Joeboy, is trending with the first single recorded this year under a new record label.

Formally signed to Mr Eazi’s Empawa Africa, Joeboy recently announced his exit to begin a new life with the label ‘Young Legend’, which is a partnership with Warner Music Africa.

The new song title, Osadebe is about self-reflection and positive affirmations. The Alcohol crooner speaks about individuality and the determination to go solo and break new grounds in the music industry.

Before this new single, he released the song Surviving early in January but somehow did not give the tune much publicity. His latest record has a touch of Amapiano rhythm and has gained some positive reviews.

The singer has promised “back–to–back bangers” this year. Sometime in October last year, he collaborated with DJ Neptune, releasing a video for a love song titled MuMu.

Born Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa-Donus, the 26-year-old started his music career at age 18. He worked privately until he did a cover of Ed Sheeran’s Shape which caught the attention of Sing and Entrepreneur Mr Eazi, who later signed him onto EmPawa Music.

In 2019, Joeboy released the single Baby, which reached about 20 million streams across YouTube and Spotify. He subsequently released “Beginning” with a visualizer music video, which also gathered some 23 million views on YouTube.

His debut extended play Love & Light arrived in November 2019 under the emPawa Africa label, in addition to other singles and Extended Plays (EP). Singles like Call, All for You, and others resonate well with his huge following.

In January 2021, Joeboy announced his debut album, Somewhere Between Beauty & Magic. On May 19, 2023, he released, Body & Soul, preceded by singles like Sip (Alcohol), Contour, and others.

Joeboy won Best Artiste in African Pop at the 2019 All Africa Music Awards, and Best Pop at the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival. He was nominated for multiple City People Entertainment Awards and, in addition to other recognitions.
