Jennifer Hudson is sharing a significant finding about her family that she discovered.

The 42-year-old singer discussed her family life on an episode of Your Mama’s Kitchen: Conversations from the Heart of the Home podcast finale.

When asked about her siblings, Jennifer Hudson shared an unexpected tale.

Michele Norris, the host of the show remarked: “Your father was quite the character and you went with your siblings and later discovered that you had a lot more siblings when you went and found him?”

“Indeed, many of us. Apparently, he had 27 children,” Hudson revealed.

“It’s a lot of kids, Norris said, looking astonished. The EGOT winner then explained that although she never met them all, “that’s what we were always told.”

She claimed that she wanted to learn more about her family after learning about them at the age of sixteen.

At the age of sixteen, she recalled that it was her goal to “have all of us at this grand Thanksgiving or Christmas table, and we all sit and eat together.”

The talk show host revealed that she eventually met six or seven of them in addition to her childhood siblings, Jason and Julia.

She remarked, “We found quite a few of us, and I’m the youngest of all of them.”

Regarding their learning about her, Hudson claimed that her father’s side of the family was instrumental in bringing her siblings together.

Following the death of my grandmother on his side, my siblings over there were like, y’all got a sister that can really sing; you should meet her,’” she revealed.

“Eventually we all came together.”

Jennifer also discussed her desire for her son to grow up surrounded by family, stating, “I enjoy trying to make sure he has the closest thing to him, even if it’s just his cousin’s circle and that foundation. I wanted him to grow up surrounded by his family, which is part of the reason I relocated back to Chicago.”

“We now live in Los Angeles, so we make it a point to eat our Sunday dinners. That’s one thing that really matters. Thereafter, he occasionally sees his cousins. Right now, one of them is here. Our family is quite large. People enjoy how large and close-knit your family is. We’re all still really connected”, she continued.
